Have you ever heard of Bora-Bora? If not you are missing out, it is the most gorgeous place I have ever seen. Bora-Bora island is a great place to go if you just want to get away for a bit and take a vacation. On the island there are amazing hotels to stay at and amazing beaches to see. Some people you could take with you on your vacation is your family, friends or even go for your honeymoon or just a get away for you and your spouse.

Where is Bora-Bora?

Bora-Bora is a group of gorgeous islands located in the French Polynesia, “an almost unbroken expanse of warm, white sand surrounds the island” (“French Polynesia”). The “land there is considered sacred on Bora-Bora, (Most of the resorts in the area are located on the chain of motu, or tiny islands, that make up the barrier reef)” (Haldeman). Over-the-water bungalows are a given of every resort on the island because these bungalows provide spectacular sites of lagoons and mountains” (Pesic), they also add more land for the island, without wasting the beauty of the island. The tourists that visit Bora-Bora are usually “Americans, Japanese and Europeans” (Pesic). Bora-Bora has amazing views and is a great place to go for a vacation.

What do you do in Bora-Bora?

In Bora-Bora there are many things you can do while you are on vacation there. You can go to the oceans and tan, swim with the animals or even go out on a boat and have some fun. Not many people live in Bora-Bora only about 4,000 (“French Polynesia”). With this little of a population there aren’t many houses but there are a lot of hotels to stay at, also many tourist things to visit. The hotels there are very cool they make little bungalows out into the ocean and that is your room (Pesic). One thing you could go see while you are there is the “Mount Otemanu, a natural sculpture that towers majestically over an island of intense emerald green” (“French Polynesia”). There are many beautiful things to see in Bora-Bora, that can be fun to see also.

What is Bora-Boras Histroy?

The history about Bora-Bora is actually quite interesting, Bora-Bora was used as a base for military supply, oil depot, air strip and seaplane base for the United States during World War II (Pesic). Not many people would know about this Island and how involved it was in World War II. “Army bunkers and cannons left over from World War II when 5,000 American GI's made a 'friendly invasion'” (“French Polynesia”). “After the war many Americans refused to leave the island because it became close to their hearts” (Pesic). Bora-Bora is a very interesting Island with an intresting history behind it and an amazing place to go for vaction.
Bora-Bora is overall a very interesting topic to research and learn about whats there and what you can do if you ever visit Bora-Bora. In my life time I would love to go to Bora-Bora to see all of the beautiful beaches and see for my own eyes.
